My name is Asiana Alohalani Ponciano. I’m a Honolulu-born, San Francisco transplant and Hawaii returnee, who enjoys cooking, playing scrabble,  flipping through magazines and newspapers and clicking through my Google Reader. My most current job was working as a content writer and editorial assistant for lifestyle brand called Soma Girls TV, which provided women with the latest scoops and trends on topics varying from health to celebrity news. I also blogged for Hyphen Magazine, a non-profit that publishes a monthly magazine about contemporary Asian American culture. Besides those gigs, I did work as a freelancer specializing in writing about people and events in the Bay Area arts and entertainment community as well as tech culture as it relates to non-savvy users. I have over four years of newspaper and magazines experience based in San Francisco.

Now I’m back home on the island of Oahu. I’m currently the Honolulu Inexpensive Fashion Examiner and I’m working on contributing to other publications in Hawaii and rooting myself in the community that raised me.

My work is eclectic. I have written for an independent music magazine, a free daily newspaper and a monthly lesbian publication. For the past two years, I have been gaining experience with online journalism as an online reporter, avid blogger and podcast host. My current goal is to venture further into the Web 2.0 frontier and become an active online journalist.
